Garlic Art

Organically mesmerizing, Topologically intriguing

Garlic is a staple in many foods - but have you ever seen the bloom of a garlic plant?
Garlic scapes are the central stalks that emerge near the time of ripening (when they start turning brown, you can harvest them). They have a visual language of their own: the number and direction of the top-of-stalk loops can help identify the particular variety. Although there are only 11 horticultural groups of garlic, the variants are many.

These garlic studies explore garlic's beauty. Sometimes they even have a note of comic-character humor, other times a symbol of romance (heart-shapes, interlocking rings).
I hope you enjoy seeing these different perspectives of this common culinary ingredient.
